Meet Kimberly Anne. She is such a sweetheart with an incredibly moving story behind her name. Her parents, Katie & Gregory, were kind enough to allow me to share their story with you.

Katie’s mother was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer in the fall of 2010. Initially, her prognosis was 3-4 months, but with her determination, faith in God and support of both family and friends she fought a courageous battle for almost 2 years and passed in the fall of 2012.

Katie and Gregory felt moved through prayer to ask her mother to name their first child in order make the future feel like she was a part of it. They gave Katie’s mother two envelopes, one for a boy and one for a girl, and asked her to choose a name for each. Their promise was not to open the envelopes until the baby was born. The story spread throughout the hospital and amongst several nurses taking pictures and crying with Katie and Gregory, they opened their envelope. On September 24, 2014 the presence of Katie’s mother and the Lord were felt in that delivery room – what an incredible moment!

And there you have the story of how this sweet baby girl got her name, Kimberly Anne, named by her grandmother – after both of her grandmothers. Enjoy!
